The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 presents a large cast of characters living within the afterlife, pits them against each other with songs detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some really cool backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a couple people make a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
